Glee:Let's Talk About Sex (3/8/11)

Well my favorite guest star returned last night. Holly Holiday (Gwyneth Paltrow) is back! This time she returned as a substitute sex ed teacher. That was the clicker for what turned into one of the sexiest episodes in Glee history and let to uncomfortable sex talks and sexuality discovery. That's what an episode about sex SHOULD be about. That and of course songs....

Holly-Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)
This might be one of new favorite Glee songs ever. It was hot and sexy, the words were great and the dancing from Holly, Santana and Britney was awesome. I think I have a little crush on Gwyneth Paltrow now. A

The Warblers-Animal
The setup for this song was kinda lame with Sue telling Blaine and Kurt what ND was up to which led to this song. The song itself was really good. I enjoyed it. They sold it well and the fact that the straight guys in the group (everyone but Blaine and Kurt) were singing to and dancing with girls just made it even better. The one thing I noticed was Kurt's over the top facial expressions which I didn't realize were actually going to lead to a very good storyline that actually led to one of the most uncomfortable, in a good way, father-son sex talks ever on TV. For all that I give it a A

Will & Holly-Kiss
Prince as a tango? It would never work. Unless you have Shue's sexuality, then it works. I also didn't know that Matthew Morrison could hit notes that high. I don't even think that Holly was needed for this song. I think if Will just sang to her while they did the tango it would have worked just fine. B+

Santana, Britney & Holly-Landslide
On paper this performance looks really random. But in the context of the show there was more to it. Holly helped the girls "get their Stevie Nicks on" which led to one of the biggest storyline surprises of season two. Santana is in love with Britney and wants to be with her. But when Brit turned her down because she didn't want to break Artie's heart, I felt so bad for Santana. It's simple teenage rejection but it just felt like so much more. All the way around, well done. B+

Emma, Carl, Rachel, Quinn and Puck-Afternoon Delight
Um, wow. This was kinda silly. First of all let me start by saying the Emma running the celibacy club makes sense but the fact that she hasn't had sex with her HUSBAND after four months of marraige, character or not, doesn't make any sense to me at all, still in love with Will or not. #2, I can't take Puck trying to fix his problems by joining the celibacy club seriously, but I guess go with it. #3, the fact that no one singing the song knew that Afternoon Delight was ABOUT SEX not a dessert made it even more ridiculous. C

Well that's that, I'm excited for next week's show already, REGIONALS! And this time around, they are singing original songs! The Gleek in me just can't wait.
