Wrestling Afteraction: WWE Extreme Rules 2012
Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Wrestling Afteraction. This edition I will be covering what people are calling the best PPV of 2012 so far, Extreme Rules. This was a PPV of blood, fights and a main event that my son will not be allowed to see until he is way older. So without further ado, pop in your DVD copy and follow along...
Show Opening
- Did I turn in to a UFC fight or a WWE PPV? That was an intense opening.
Falls Count Anywhere
Kane vs. Randy Orton
- Wrestlemania Rematch #1
- Nice a pipe already! Just getting started!
- As long as they stay in the arena I love this of match. Especially with a hot crowd.
- Never mind heading backstage. now this because not as much fun.
- I think I see Zach Ryder!
- How is a back-breaker a "vintage" move?
- Hey we're back! Woot!
- Is the crowd doing "Yes" chants already?
- Yep those are definitely "Yes" chants during the chair shots.
- That was a wicked DDT onto the floor!
- "That wasn't a kick out, that was just straight out the back door"-Booker T. What the hell does that mean?
- Whoa! RKO off the chair! That was a great finish!!
Backstage
- Is that the Raw Roulette?
Brodus Clay vs. Dolph Ziggler
- The hell? I didn't know he was on the card.
- Better yet why is Hornswoggle out here too?
- Now Vickie? What is going on?
- Dolph? What did he do?
- According to Cole Hornswoggle has rabies. That's help out getting the young viewers.
- Love the announcers ignoring the massive "Let's Go Ziggler" chants.
- Why can't more Brodus Clay matches be that exciting? Damn!
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Tables Match
The Big Show (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
- Wrestlemania Rematch #2
- Oh!!! So that's why the wheel was back there! Sorry didn't see the pre show.
- Wow this crowd is VERY pro Cody.
- Whoa! That was a great move off the table for Cody. How did that table NOT break?
- They "Yes" chants are back!
- Wait! That counts? It does! Big Show stepped on a table, it broke, Cody won!
- Cody NOW went through a table. But he still won.
- Was that like nine feet in the air through the table?
- This crowd is confusing me. They rooted for Cody the whole match then cheered when Big Show threw him through two tables and THEN give him a standing ovation when he gets up? I don't get it.
World Heavyweight Championship
2 out of 3 Falls Match
Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
- Wrestlemania Rematch #3
- Wow. Sheamus didn't get that kind of heat when he was a HEEL! Well the 18 second shit didn't help matters.
- Sheamus actually hits submissions? Why doesn't he do that more often?
- This match is proving why Daniel Bryan is one of the best in the business.
- That was a great counter to the Celtic cross!
- What the fuck? Sheamus is up 1-0 by DQ? I thought this was No DQ! Oh well.
- Well done! Yes lock! 1-1 via pass out or submission. Either way.
- This crowd is RED HOT right now. There are dueling "Yes" and "No" chants! It is so loud I can't hear the announcers.
- Whoa! That was a hell of a Brogue Kick! How the did he kick out!?!?
- That boot was almost mightier than the fist.
- That was a war! Great match.
Ryback
- I refuse to even talk about this shit. Why is this even on a PPV?
WWE Championship
Chicago Street Fight
CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho
- Wrestlemania Rematch #4
- Punk is DEFINITELY home. What a reaction!
- Damn weapons came out early. Chair and a kendo stick. Awesome!
- I was hoping showing Punk's sister would lead to something. That was a hell of a slap!
- Holy shit! Punk has lost it! That was the announce table! That was the top of the table.
- Someone just yelled "You're giving Fozzy a bad name." That was great.
- This has to be the best use of an announce table! And the table's still standing!
- I guess Y2J is thirsty? Don't waste another beer Jericho! It's not good for the beer!
- How many beers are down there? Is he going through Hornswoggle's fridge or something?
- This is total beer abuse!
- This should be included is a backstage video "how to counter the GTS".
- A fire extinguisher?? Shit! He blinded Jericho!
- No fuckin way!! Elbow drop through the Spanish announce table. Are you fuckin serious?!?!?
- Okay that was a great way to break the vice with a kendo stick. Damn!
- GTS off the exposed turnbuckle!! Holy shit. What a match!!
WWE Diva's Championship
Nikki Bella (c) vs. Layla
- Layla's back!
- This really isn't a bad match at all. Good job Layla.
Extreme Rules Match
Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
- Wait is Brock sponsored by Jimmy Johns? Seriously this is still the same show right?
- I'm kinda shocked Brock let him do his whole entrance. Figured it would have started sooner.
- Fuck! Those are some wicked elbows!
- Nice touch with the ref wearing gloves because of the blood.
- What?! A doctor in an extreme rules match?
- Now that was getting busted open the hard way. Wow.
- No Cole in the old days this match would just continue if someone was bleeding no matter how bad it was.
- What the fuck is that move? Did his shoulder pop out there?
- I don't know what to say. This is fuckin brutal!
- Did Brock just pick up the ref with one hand and throw him in the ring through the second rope?
- Seriously who the fuck would WANT to ref a Brock match after this?
- Are you fuckin serious? How did Cena NOT break his arm during that?
- Why did Cena think hitting a move off the top rope was a good idea especially after power bombing Brock on the stairs?
- This is a surreal sight.
- That dive over the top rope was a sign of ring rust but seriously how is Brock walking after that fall?
- When did Cena get the chair back?
- I have never heard a Chicago crowd rooting Cena on this loud.
- AA on the steps!! Holy fuck!! That was unreal!!
- I don't know what to say after that.

Wrestling Afteraction: ROH Best in the World 2012
Welcome to the first edition of Wrestling Afteraction. Every week I pluck wrestling shows out of the vault and re-watch them and comment on them as a I go through it. This is NOT a hold for hold play-by-play review. This is me making comments and observations as the show is going on. For full enjoyment, I suggest you watch along in some variation along as you. Hope you enjoy.
This edition I will be covering Ring of Honor Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis. I am aware that the DVD is not out yet and the youtube feed I watched it no longer up. Hopefully you have a copy yourself, especially if you are ROH ringside member. Either way, when you do get a copy, pop it in and follow along...
- What's the point of a tale of the tape when you don't know who one of the teams are?
- Alot of conversation about the ropes being loose. It seemed to affect the match which explains it being so sloppy.
- Please tell me that's all we are going to see of the Guardians of Truth. That was a bad opener.
Die Hard Series
- I'm curious if that is TNA's LAX music because it sure sounds like it.
- I swear the "Yes!" chants have taken over pro wrestling lately, no matter if it's in English or Spanish.
- This was by far Homicide's best wrestled match in a long time, including his run as X Divison Champion.
- Holy shit! That was a wicked Grigo Killer!
- I don't really understand Homicide winning unless there's going to be a rematch down the road.
Hybrid Rules Match
- What the hell is a hybrid rules match?
- Okay this is WAY too complicated and I was able to follow along with most TNA matches a couple of years ago.
- Seriously how intense was the training for this PPV? First Edwards with his elbow then O'Reilly with his leg. What the hell?
- Holy shit!! I have never seen this much blood coming a moving human being's mouth!!
- Adam Cole is a fuckin star after this performance!
- Damn! That was of the best match of 2012! Unreal!
- Well okay, no Truth Martini for this match. Elgin definitely doesn't need him so good to know.
- Anytime I see Finlay all I hear is "My name is Finlay and I want to fight!"
- I hope they let Elgin breakout by himself. I want to root for him, he's so likeable for a big guy.
- Seriously what youth elixir did Finlay take or is he just THAT good in the ring?
- Elgin and Finlay really put on a big guy clinic in this match.
- I don't get why the crowd is hating this match so much. This is an old school lengthy wrestling match. It's really enjoyable from my point of view.
- Wait! I thought the piledriver was illegal in ROH matches, hence the stipulation in the main event. Oh well.
- I love how Truth is trying to take credit Elgin's win. It's basic heel storytelling 101.
Intermission
- I do have a question, why are there intermissions on PPVs? I don't get that.
Mike Bennett
- Personally if I were Mike and Maria, I would drop Brutal Bob. They don't would be fine without him.
- Also someone should really test the mics and sound system during intermission to make sure it could be heard over the crowd.
- You would think watching Bennett and Maria makeout would be heelishly uncomfortable but it's oddly not.
- Enter Mike Mondo
- Someone teach him how to talk please. He's got the intensity but no mic skills.
- Did he say he was going to fuck Maria after this match? Unexpected line.
Mike Bennett vs. Mike Mondo
- Was that even a match?
- Wait I never heard a bell until AFTER the pinfall!
- That was interesting. That's all I got.
Roderick Strong (c) vs. Jay Lethal vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Ring of Honor World Television Championship Match
- I don't care at all about this whole Embassy & the House of Truth storyline. I think it's dumb.
- I do think it's hysterical that there are only two females in ROH and neither of them ACTUALLY wrestle.
- Um, Jay what the hell did you do to your hair?
- Okay what's worse Ciampa's facial hair or Lethal's hair?
- Okay ROH, pick a camera angle and stick with it for longer than a half a second. The camera work is totally taking me out of the match.
- Whoa!! Didn't know Princess Mia could kick like that!
- Oh this is a three way dance? That would have been nice to have been mentioned sooner.
- Playing the role of volleyball was Ciampa.
- Okay I have never seen one male hit two submissions like Lethal did.
- I've always wanted to know what is actually in the Book of Truth?
- Okay that was a shitty way to end a very good triple threat.
- So wait a sec, Prince Nana cost Ciampa the title? That makes no real sense.
Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Hass & Shelton Benjamin) (c) vs. The All-Night Express (Rhett Titus and Kenny King)
Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship
- So this is what turns out to be Kenny King's last match in ROH.
- Hass/Benjamin are the only heels all night that are actually being treated like heels by the New York crowd.
- Oh no that's why they "fined" Finlay for piledriver earlier was so they can say Hass would have gotten DQed for using it here. That works for me.
- You take DQs out of the picture and you actually get a good wrestling match.
- After this showing it's a shame there will be no rematch.
- When King threw Shelton the chair, that was brutal!
- The theme of this show is that the faces can win matches despite losing ALOT of blood. First Cole than Titus.
- Did Hass think this was a "I Quit" match all of a sudden?
- So that's how ANX wins the title, a bloody rollup? I guess that works.
- I will say that if this King's last night in ROH, he went out with a bang.
Kevin Steen (c) vs. Davey Richards
Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Anything Goes Match
- "My name is Steve Corino and I'm proud to be evil" might be the best start to a promo I've heard in ages.
- Did Corino actually drop Cole's "I'm a broadcast journalist" line?
- Was nice to hear "Mr. Wrestling" again.
- Did Davey teach Kyle how to talk? Tonight is his coming out party.
- Whoa! Did the match just start with a superkick through a table? Shit!!
- Two minutes in and this is already a war. Damn!!
- Apparently Steen didn't like how the steel barigades looked so he redecorated on Richards' head.
- What did Bobby Cruise do to deserve that superkick?
- You know you don't realize how little space there is outside the ring till Davey set up that table.
- "We want fire!!" New York crowds are awesome!
- Davey Richards' mouth piece tastes like "determination with a bit of bitterness." Great line by Corino.
- Todd Sinclair gets knocked out the match by Davey and the crowd started chanting "Yes! Yes Yes!" Amazing!
- What the hell? Steen hit the piledriver on Turner. That was random.
- Whoa! What a piledriver by Davey on Steen on the ladder. Got a 20 count from the crowd.
- I have to admit watching Corino beat up Cornette made me smile.
- A spike to the nuts and a piledriver and it's over. Surreal!
Post Match
- Total respect given to Davey by Steen.
- Love the New York crowd. Steen is insulting them and they are chanting "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
- Awesome "Ole!" singing.
- Whoa! He took a shot on Punk and Bryan.
- The crowd to totally cheering a wicked crazy heel promo.
