Glee (11/9/10)-Back on Track

Well last night's Glee was a nice breath of fresh air. Powerful story-lines that will now setup the rest of the first half of the season (the announcement of Sectionals, Kurt in general and Puck/Artie). After last night, I can also say that I love the Coach Beiste character more and more every week, and hope they keep her on TV regularly in some role. There was only four songs numbers, which I greatly appreciated because the songs actually fit the story, instead of just a theme. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Let's get into the songs.

Dalton Academy Glee Club-Teenage Dream
Um, wow. That's all I can say. This song made me break my rule of only downloading New Directions performances. This was incredible. Between the song itself and Kurt's boyish shyness and flirtiness, it was a joy and by far one of the best performances of the season. A+

Puck and Artie-One Love/People Get Ready
If this storyline with these two is going to lead to more songs like this, I'm all for it. This performance is kind of a reminder this is a musical. The song was out of left field but it was sung so well that it didn't matter. A

New Directions Girls-Start Me Up/Livin' On A Prayer
This was actually really good. I was worried going in, but the girls looked hot in the rocker gear and the mash-up was surprisingly impressive. A

New Directions Boys-Stop! In the Name of Love/Free Your Mind
This performance, especially because of the Beiste storyline, was actually better than what I expected. The mash-up was well done, and the songs were really good. I personally loved the free-form choreography and thought even though the girls were hotter, the guys won the battle of the sexes two years in a row, even though it was never announced. A+
