The other day at the general managers meetings the NHL announced a brand new format for their traditional all-star game in January. While I'm still trying to put all the pieces together, let's see if I understand this.
The fans vote in 6 players to the teams, not starters, just players. Then hockey operations will select the other 36. Then two captains will be selected and those captains will draft their teams on the Friday before the all star game.
Right now I think it's taking a little bit to digest. It's different. It's something that's never been done before. Maybe this will bring some attention to the league. I'm not sure to be honest. It's going to take a little time for me to really see how this will work. As we close I guess we will find out. I don't know yet, my thoughts are kinda scrambled on the subject matter right now.
All I know is that this year, no more East vs. West. Just two pick up teams playing each other for bragging rights. Sounds interseting I guess, we'll see what happens.
