The Sing Off:The Finals...Are there really losers? (12/21/10)
It's hard to sit here and go through last night's show. It was a really entertaining night of TV. The performances with the special guests were amazing and enjoyable. So I guess I could go through the final four performances of the season like I did every other episode. So let's get into it, but this time in order of elimination...
Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town
Final Song: OJays-Love Train
Thoughts: This show was about the groups, no pressure and this performance showed. My major question all night was what happened to Jerry? When they taped the previous episodes he didn't have a cane, and last night he did and majorly needed it. At least it didn't hurt the performance. Overall, a great way to end the run for these guys, they went out with major class.
Rating: 10
Backbeats
Final Song: Katy Perry-Firework
Thoughts: You know if they did this performance sooner, they might have made it to the final two. Talk about taking a song that we've heard a thousand times and making it their own. This was awesome. Never thought I'd hear a guy doing this song, let alone do it like a duet, but it totally worked. They proved why they came this far and showed alot. They went out with a major bang.
Rating: 10
Street Corner Symphony
Final Song: Coldplay-Fix You
Thoughts: Well, these guys were my pick going into the night and when they were announced as the final two I was really excited. This was a great way to show how great they are. Unfornately I wish they were given the WHOLE performance to sing just them. But for what it was, it was fantastic. These guys aren't going anywhere, at least I hope not. I'd totally pick up their CD.
Rating: 10
Commited
Final Song: Michael Jackson & Akon-Hold My Hand
Thoughts: Well these are your Sing Off champs. I'm not surprised at all, I figured they had it in the bag from the first episode. They deserved it. As for this performance, it was a great showcase of what they can do. It might not have been their BEST, but it's very hard for them to top themselves after everything they did. It was a great way for them to finish their run. Congrats to Commited!

The Sing Off:The Road to the Finals (12/15/10)
In what, I have to admit, is the shortest reality ever created it's already the next to last episode before the finale. How did that happen? Too soon. Anyway let's get right into it...

Medley:The Beatles
Thoughts:Talk about setting the bar high for themselves by taking on the biggest group ever. Seemingly seemless and fun to listen to. Very awesome!
Rating:10

It's A Glee Christmas (12/7/10)
Last night was the final episode of Glee for 2010 (more of that later) and with that came the much anticipated Christmas episode. This show was what I expected, a fun roller coaster. I loved the fact that it felt like a combination of a cheesy holiday special and a parody of The Grinch. Also they fit just enough songs in to make the episode work and flow well. (On the record, yes there is a full Glee Christmas album, but unlike some Gleeks I didn't expect them to fit all the songs in the show, especially the religious one.) Before I get into the songs I will address two scenes from the show that I loved. Beiste had to be one of the sweetest Santas ever with Brittney and the sight of Artie walking sent chills up and down my spine. With that said, let the Christmas spirit ring, and let's get into the music...
New Directions-The Most Wonderful Day of the Year
Most people, like myself, know this song as the misfit toys song from Rudolph. When I heard this on the Christmas album, I really wanted them to find a way to fit it into the show. I'm so glad they did, especially since it was just sung for the fun of it with no real meaning. It's a PERFECT Christmas song for this show and was really fun to watch. A
New Directions-We Need A Little Christmas

New Directions-We Need A Little Christmas
You know you aren't popular when you get a shoe thrown at you in the middle of singing. I really wanted to hear more of this song because I love this song so much. For what was heard, it was good. B
Rachel-Merry Christmas, Darling
I know this song is a Christmas classic by The Carpenters, but I've never been a huge fan of it. Maybe it was the fact that my mom overplayed it or whatever, still wasn't sure what to expect. Lea blew it out of the water. I really loved it and made me really like this song. A
Blaine & Kurt-Baby, It's Cold Outside
Can these two sing a duet every week? They don't even have to get together, just let them sing. This was amazing. Their voices meshed perfectly and the flirtation was adorable. This was so well done and can listen and watch over and over again and not have a problem with it at all. A+
K.D. Lang-You're A Mean One, Sue The Grinch
Yes, you read that right, K.D. Lang made a singing cameo on this episode. As far as making Sue look like pure evil again, I loved it. As a montage it was great. Was it over the top? Totally. But for a Grinch parody it was perfect for what it was needed for. B+
Rachel & Finn-Last Christmas
I honestly thought that they were going to forget about this song. When Rachel mentioned Wham!, it then dawned on me that they released this song last year as a single. It was well done in my opinion. It was the closure we needed to end this half of the season for these two. Plus who doesn't love a good duet in a Christmas Tree lot? A
New Directions-Welcome Christmas
This song has been stuck in my head since last night. ND sang this to the faculty to help raise money for charity. (something they tried to do when singing We Need A Little Christmas earlier in the show, when they went caroling classroom to classroom, which was an awful mistake) It was beautiful and just great for the ears. For the first time they sounded like a well put together choir instead of a club of random people. A great way to end it. Especially with Sue watching and having the Grinch change of heart. A+
That's it. That's Glee for 2010. There's alot of confusion on various web sites on why FOX is let the show take time off till February. Well last year, they went off the air in December and didn't return until the middle of April. I have no problem with this little breaks. The reruns will still be on, the fans can take a break from the show and then get refreshed for regionals and finally nationals. So until Super Bowl Sunday, that's it for this gleek.

The Sing Off-The Return (12/6/10)
Well I have a feeling this show is going to be my new obsession, too bad it only last three weeks. For those who don't know what this show is, it's a pure accapella singing only competition with ten groups who have to sing songs, but without a band, so they have to use the groups' voices to supply the music. I missed season one, for whatever reason, but I'm definately not missing season two. So here we go...

Song: Lady Gaga-Bad Romance
Thoughts: This had to be the most talked about performance going into the show, so there was ALOT of hype. While it started a little flat, I thought it was awesome. Something crazy about watching a bunch of man singing Lady Gaga.

Progress. That seems to be the word that best describes the month of November for the Devils. When the month started I was ready to hit the panic button on the franchise. Then again when this month started, Johan Hedberg wasn't the starter because Marty is having issues with his elbow. Now, hard to believe, things are getting better. I have alot of confidence in the Elias-Arnott-Tedenby line anytime they are on the ice. Even the Rolston-Zubrus-Clarkson line is hot right now. They just need to be consistent. They can't beat a team like the Capitals 5-0 and then turn around lay an egg when playing the crappy Islanders.
There is still alot of work to do but for the first time all season I can say I see hope. Do I think they will make the playoffs right now? No I don't. Oddly I'm okay with that. I think missing the playoffs this year for the first time since 1996 might be what this team needs right now.
Glee:Return to Sectionals (11/30/10)
Last year when the Sectionals episode aired, it was hyped more and it was the fall finale. This year, it was kinda almost forgotten about till like two or three weeks ago and then thrown on the air. But honestly, this year's competition was ALOT better than last year's. This year it wasn't a total given that New Directions was going to win, which was needed. Plus with all the drama that went on this week (Kurt starting up in Dalton, Rachel finding out that Finn lied to her about having sex with Santana last year which led to Rachel hooking up with Puck and Tina and Artie thinking that Britney and Mike were cheating on them and Emma going off to Vegas and marrying Carl much to Will's behest) it made for a very intersesting hour of television. So without further ado let's get into the performances. (Which by the way, I appreciated the fact that the first song didn't come till almost halfway through the episode, it helped set up all the storylines.)
Rachel and Kurt-Don't Cry for Me Argentina
First of all, I want to note that as much of a musical buff that I am, I had never actually heard this song in full till I d/led the tracks (more on that in a second) on ITunes. That being said, I'm glad they sang this like when they did Defying Gravity last season. It's always great to hear Lea belt out Broadway numbers and for Chris to just nail this was awesome. Rachel was helping Kurt so she sang by herself and Kurt was performing to Warblers trying to earn a solo. As a performance it was good, but major kudos to the editing team to make his performance great. My only issue has nothing to do with the show itself but the fact that they didn't release the TV version of the song, which I would have loved, and instead seperate verisons of Lea and Chris doing the song solo. I didn't like that, but that has nothing to do with the performance on the show. B+
Warren Township Hipsters-The Living Years
What can I say? The old people were really good. Definately didn't expect that. They made the competition a three team show instead of a two team show which I appreciated. B
Dalton Academy Warblers-Hey, Soul Sister
Now come the all boys choir that now Kurt is apart of. I really enjoyed this performance and the simple choreographed steps actually added to the song. It wa simply amazing to listen to and watch. I will note that Kurt didn't look like he belonged there at all, but I guess for the rest of the season I'll just have to get used to him. A+
Sam and Quinn-(I've Had) The Time of My Life
I've already read it other places that people are slamming this performance, but I didn't think it was bad at all. It gave two new people a chance to shine plus it showed the insane chemistry between the two of them. (The fact is that now they are the power couple in ND because of the ensuing Finn/Rachel breakup, they needed this performace to show how great they are together.) A This is the song that started their set, which led to...
New Directions-Valerie
Until yesterday I had never actually heard this song and I'm not sure if I even like it to be honest. But what this song did was give Santana the spotlight to lead the song and give Britney and Mike a chance to show their AMAZING dancing skills. This was one of the standout performances of the season by far and it was a nice change of pace to have a major competition and for ND not to do a classic rock song. A+
In a strange turn of a events, the Warblers and New Directions ended up tied at first place and both advance onto the Regionals to face Vocal Adrenaline later in the year.
New Directions-Dog Days Are Over
Due to being depressed about her breakup with Finn, Rachel passes on a solo to finish the show and gives the oppurtunity to Tina and Mercedes who led the group in this song. Them singing this for me, actually made the song alot better than the orginial. As a performance it was alright, a good song to end this round but at the same time just felt incomplete. Not sure why. B+
Well, that's in for Sectionals but before the road to Regionials can start in 2011, next week is the Glee Christmas special which will be the final episode of 2010, aka the fall finale.
