Glee: Road to New York Begins (4/19/11)

Well after a month off Glee returned this week. So with just over a month to get go till Nationals, it's time to start storyline overdrive. It felt almost like a reset last night. New Directions realized that Sue screwed them out of the money they were supossed to get to fun Nationals so they had to raise it themselves. We always find out that Asian Fusion, Tina and Mike, Artie and Brittany are in the Brainiacs (well that was written right) and have advanced to the finals and also need money to get them there. So Holly (my favorite guest star ever) told Will that a fundraiser concert should work. Well it was a great idea in theory. Well it didn't go that well. Oh and before I forget Sue formed her own "evil group" The Legion of Doom (Flyers fans of the past were probably pissed to hear that one) which included Vocal Adrenaline coach Dusty Goolsby as Sergeant Handsome, Sandy, the former Glee coach, as the Pink Dagger and Terri as the Honey Badger. I agree with Sue, worst henchmen ever. Onto the music...

Sunshine-All By Myself
Wow she is small. But in that small frame is one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard. She sang this on the ND stage to get them let her sing in the benefit concert. She has 600 twitter followers. Well that didn't happen because Sergeant Handsome stopped her. As for this performance though, it was simply amazing. She has the pipes to sing anything. A

Tina-Follow Rivers
I felt so bad for Tina. She was the first one out and got completely destroyed by heckling led by Pink Dagger. She deserves better than this. She's a great singer. Hopefully she gets to finish a song this season. B+ (for what we heard)

(I'm not including Mike's dance but that was amazing)

Holly-Turning Tables
This was her way of breaking up with Shue. It was a good, but no where near her best on this show. She was more serious than normal so that could be what it was. B+

Mercedes-Ain't No Way
After a crazy storyline all night that she was turning Diva, and refused to perform unless they met her demands, Rachel got her on the stage to close out the show and belt out this song. It was great, no doubt about it. She proved why she should be singing more often. A

Well that's it for this week's show. Next week is a special 90 minute Glee, probably to compete with the premiere of The Voice (ah the wonderful world of DVR), which should be alot of fun, and seems to be the return of Kurt to ND, hopefully Blaine follows with him.
