Entertainment Report Issue #24 (TNA Lockdown, Celebrity Apprentice, Glee, Comic Book Men and more!)

This past week has been a very busy one for us here at the Report.

First of all, Scotty, @ScottFellows23, has informed me that there will be no Wave report this because of their elimination from the playoffs last week. I don’t really blame him but he has told me that he will be doing some other soccer coverage down the road.

#2, last week I launched our official podcast. I already have plenty of topics and guests lined up for the next month. So hopefully you come back and take a listen. I’m actually recording right after I post this with a possible special co host.

#3, aside from the podcast there will be additional posts over the next month mostly wrestling related. Look for a best matches, worst matches and underrated matches list since Wrestlemania X8. Also I’m working on a new series call “Then and Now”, running down wrestling cards from the past and where they are now. I hope you enjoy them as they post.

Alright, finally, I would like to formally announce that we are partnering with Puzzled and Polished for a March Madness 50/50 poll. If you want to participate please email us at entertainreport@gmail.com or tweet us @EReport1.

Alright let’s get on with the show….

Results

  • Kenny King defeated Christian York & Zema Ion to retain the TNA X Division Champion when King pinned York
  • Joseph Park pinned Joey Ryan
  • Velvet Sky pinned Gail Kim to retain the TNA Knockouts Championship
  • Robbie T pinned Robbie E
  • Bobby Roode & Austin Aries defeated Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian) and Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez when Roode pinned Daniels
  • Wes Brisco defeated Kurt Angle in a cage match via escape
  • Team TNA defeated Aces & Eights in a Lethal Lockdown match when Young pinned Knox
  • Bully Ray pinned Jeff Hardy in a cage match to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Thoughts

I'm so torn. I'm really excited that Bully Ray is the World Heavyweight Champion. It's a long time coming as I mentioned in my preview, he's come a long way. That being said, I'm pissed I was right that he was going to turn. I wanted to be wrong. But I did love the promo after the match,

"Hey Devon, let that stupid bitch cry. Hey Hulk, I used you. Brooke, I screwed you."

Bully is amazing and now he's the president of Aces & Eights.

The rest of the show just happened. No title changes, Eric Young surprisingly for the pinfall for Team TNA and D-Lo helped Wes beat Angle.

Overall the show surrounded around one match angle and it was pretty huge.

I guess if you want to get the fans' attention after a short Idol induced break, this was a great way to do it. It was a music filled jammed packed episode that was alot of fun.

The theme of the night was movies because Will needed a bit of a distraction after still not being able to final Emma which led to a dream sequence of You're All the World To Me. It was a cute start and it was nice to actually start the show with a song.

Will & Finn challenged the group to the annual girls vs. guys mash up contest based on movies and the winners will get starring roles in Artie's first student film. Now that the stage was set, it was one of the best mash up contests we've seen.

Before the contest Blaine suggested that they have a bonding moment with a big group number, Shout, and wow that was exciting. Also this was Glee's 500th performance, which meant they had to go all out, I for one appreciated it.

Let's quickly get the New York stuff out of the way. When we arrived Kurt, his "boyfriend" Adam, Rachel and Santana were snowed in, without Brody. Santana though was well in uber bitch mode, going through everyone's stuff and really get the audience up to date on story lines. She pretty much accused Brody of being a drug dealer, which Kurt loved, and by the end of the show she confronted Rachel about her pregnancy. Tear, tear, tear, hug, hug, hug, you get the point. Anyway during the snow storm they did watch Moulin Rouge, which led to a fantasy sequence of Kurt & Blaine sing Come What May. That was actually really sweet and I loved it.

Alright back to Ohio. I want to quickly address one issue that Mandy brought up about the contest. Why was Wade allowed to sing along with the girls as Unique when Kurt always had to to sing with the guys? I know he's more comfortable dressed up like a woman but considering the show's history it seemed weird. That being said, let's get in with the competition.

The guys performed Old Time Rock and Roll/Danger Zone as a tribute to early Tom Cruise movies. Artie, Blaine and Joe were dressed up like they were in Top Gun and Sam, Ryder and Jake were in Risky Business white tshirts, tighty whites and glasses. I will admit that it was awesome and super dirty at the same time. The girls performed Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend/Material Girl which was really sweet and simple. In my opinion, the guys were better than the girls for sure. It was just more entertaining. It ended up being a tie because well Artie wanted then all in his futures.

Now onto the two big stories. First of all, Jake apologized to Marley about how Ryder helped him with Valentine's Day. He then set up a recreation of Ghost and sang Unchained Melody which turned into a fantasy duet in Marley's confused mind with Ryder. After the song, she told Jake that Ryder kissed her. The funny part about this was that this was after she told Kitty, for whatever dumb reason, to keep it between them. Well, so much for that.

Finally, the big story. Finn and Artie went on a mission to find Emma for Will and even convinced her parents that they were gingers and she runs the Ginger Appreciation Club. (Btw did you know that Gingers smell like pennies?) This led to an uber romantic performance of In Your Eyes complete with a boom box over his head and New Directions behind him. The hilarious part for me was when Will had to turn around and tell them to go after Emma said she would talk to him. So they reunited under the guides that they will get to know each other again. But then Finn pulled Will aside, for some weird reason, and told him that he kissed Emma. The show then ended with a random but fun performance of Footloose.
Episode: Just As Simple As Making Soup

This week's show the celebrities were instructed to create a 3D photo experience for Universal Studios. It was set up to be a fun night especially since it started on Trump's plane.

Team Power
Project Manager: Omarosa

As crazy as Omarosa is, she warned the win. The set up was way inventive concentrating on Harry Potter, Despicable Me & Spiderman. The one thing I just to say is, SPIDERMAN DOES WEAR WEB SHOOTERS IN THE MOVIES YOU MORON!!!!!

Winnings:$40,000

Team Plan B
Project Manager: Dee Snider
Missing from this task: Trace Adkins (Was doing a cruise show with Blake Shelton)

Seriously if you are at Universal where Harry Potter is the biggest attraction, and you have one of the best illusionists in history on your team in Penn Jillette, wouldn't you turn to him to put together something amazing especially when he could pull it off? Of course you would. Dee instead went with cardboard cutouts of the celebrities in costumes. My highlight was Gary Busey getting everyone excited and really losing his mind in a good way.

Brought Back to the Boardroom: Dee Snider, Gary Busey, Stephen Baldwin

Fired: Dee Snider

Dee pretty much threw himself under the bus, didn't even put up a fight and got deservedly fired.

Gary Busey Weekly Quote

"FUN means Finally Understanding Nothing."

Episode: Con Men

This episode surrounded around an auction that Walt wanted to put together for a long time friend of the Stash, Gary Conover. Gary had fallen on hard times due to medical bills and needed to unload his collection dating back 50 years. They were able to raise over $3,000 for the cause which was absolutely cool.

The items discussed throughout the night were a pair of He-Man animation cells, but the value was low because of the lack of overlays. We discovered Walt's hatred of Star Trek when a customer came in with an autographed 12 inch Captain Kirk action figure from Wrath of Khan. The final item to come in was a 1960ish Superman poster. Finally someone came in to pick up Amazing Spiderman #300 which includes the debut of Venom. This sparked a debate on why people love Venom so much.

3/7/13-Buffalo at New Jersey

The Devils finally got off the losing streak they were on and did it in amazing come from behind fashion. After the Sabres took a 2-0 lead on goals by Thomas Vanek and Brian Flynn, it looked like New Jersey would fold and lose their seventh straight for the first time since 1986. That was until Adam Henrique scored a power play at 13:30. Then Patrik Elias tied the game in dramatic fashion with a minute and six second left in regulation. The game went to a shootout when David Clarkson and Elias scored to secure the victory.

3/9/13-New Jersey at Carolina

Um well this game happened. The Hurricanes, led by two goals by Jiri Tlustz, destroyed the Devils 6-3. Despite a late effort by Ilya Kovalchuk, with his second of the game, and Patrik Elias, it was a long rough night. Johan Hedberg got pulled again which led to Jeff Frazee's NHL debut.

3/10/13-Winnipeg at New Jersey

After losing both games in the home and home last week, the Devils finally got their revenge against the Jets, winning 3-2 in a shootout. New Jersey took a 2-0 lead on goals by Ryan Carter and Stephen Gionta in the first and just couldn't hold on. Mark Stuart and Evander Kane tied the game and it went all the way to the shootout. Patrik Elias won the game for the Devs scoring the lone shootout goal. Johan Hedberg redeemed himself with 23 saves on the night.

3/13/13-Philadelphia at New Jersey

Wow, what a difference a week makes. Led by two goals and an assist by Adam Henrique, the Devils beat up the Flyers 5-2. Despite it being a close game in the beginning of the night, it got blown out of the water. Patrik Elias, Ilya Kovalchuk and Andrei Loktionov all scored for New Jersey in the win. Johan Hedberg made 25 saves on the night.

On Friday night, the Devils head to Philly to complete their home and home (on the NHL Network). After that they host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night then finally welcome the New York Rangers to town on Tuesday night.

3/8/13-Chicago at Milwaukee

The Amtrak Rivarly took center stage in a classic game at the BC. The Ads started the game with an early 1-0 lead on a Kevin Henderson goal. The Wolves though took a lead heading into the 3rd on goals by Mark Matheson and Darren Archibald. In the 3rd the Admirals' scoring exploded when Mark Halischuk scored two goals and Jusso Puustinen added one. Chicago added one late but Milwaukee held on for a 4-3 win.

3/9/13-Milwaukee at Chicago

The crazy game environment continued the next night in Chicago. After a scoreless first period, Andrew Ebbett gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Cam Reid tied the game for the Ads but quickly Andrew Gordon, gave the lead back to Chicago. With just over four minutes left in regulation, Brad Winchester tied the game to send it to overtime. It went to a shootout where the Ads won 3-2.

3/13/13-Peoria at Milwaukee

For the second time this season, Magnus Hellberg recording a shutout, this time making 30 saves, against the Rivermen leading the Admirals to a 2-0 victory. Brad Winchester and Mattias Ekholm got the goals for Milwaukee and Austin Watson assisted on both goals.

The only game on the docket for the Admirals this upcoming week is a home game on Saturday night against the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Entertainment Report Issue #23 (ROH 11th Anniversary, MISL Playoffs, Celebrity Apprentice, Comic Book Men and more)

"Be you. Don't try to go out there and get in that ring in front of those veterans that are watching you and try to be something that you're not or do something that you can't do because they can see through you like glass."-Paul Bearer, Pro Wrestling Torch Livecast (8/17/12)

This has been such a busy week and actually continues to be.

#1, last Thursday I started making some updates to the sidebar of the blog. The big change was the addition if a sponsor and supporter column, with @PuzzledPolished and @EastCoastCast represented. This is the start of the changes I'm currently working on.

#2, if you saw this week's Country Weekly, with Luke Bryan on the cover, you saw my word search puzzle. If you didn't it's still on newsstands as of this posting so go pick it up.

#3, in case you missed it on our Twitter account @EReport1, Mandy (@Mama_Mandabear) was in the Journal Sentinel on Saturday morning. She was representing @AutismSpeaks and of course @PuzzledPolished  If you did that and you are local Mandy will be on Wisconsin Tonight tomorrow night (Thursday 3/7/13) on TMJ4 at 6:30pm.

#4, tomorrow morning look for the first Entertainment Report/Puzzled & Polished podcast. Mandy and I will be hosting and be talking about various topics.

Finally because I don't do it enough, thank you for reading this issue. I hope you enjoy what we do here and come back every week. Also I hope you continue to spread the word about the Report. Every retweet and Facebook post is helpful and I am thankful for every one of them.

Alright that's it from me, let's get on with the show...

Today the wrestling world is mourning the lost of one of the greatest managers in wrestling history, Paul Bearer, William Moody, passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 58.

No matter what generation you watched pro wrestling, Paul Bearer was always there for you as a fan. Whether it was pre-WWE as Percy Pringle or managing Undertaker, Kane and Mankind throughout the years in WWE or ever just being a new fan and seeing in clips. He's always been and always will be one of the greats and is a future hall of famer.

So for the final time in honor or a great wrestling legend...

Paul Bearer
Rest. In. Peace.

  • reDragon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly) defeated The Briscoes to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship when O'Reilly pinned Jay Briscoe
  • Kevin Steen pinned Jay Lethal to retain the ROH World Heavyweight Championship

Thoughts

It's crazy how much can change in the matter of five minutes.

The top story coming out of this show should have been the two title changes and the set up for Supercard of Honor. But the huge talking point was the expansion of S.C.U.M. with members Rhett Titus, Cliff Compton, Jimmy Rave and Matt Hardy. It was a huge shocker in front of the Chicago crowd. For me the Titus turn surprised most but at least it makes story sense. Honestly I don't know where this is going, I hope it's good. ROH needs something big right now.

As for the rest of the show, it was hot. First of all, what a shocker the Adam Cole lost his TV Title to Matt Taven! I was sure they were setting up a Cole-Hardy TV Title match, that is now a #1 contender's match.

The one division I'm really excited about is the tag division. reDragon (terrible name btw) beat The Briscoes to set up a future title match versus The American Dragons. That is massive. I expect them to save this for Supercard of Honor next month but selfishly I want this match on free TV.

The rest of the show was good. I was excited that Cheeseburger interfered and attacked Charlie Hass. Can you smell a TV main event? Hass vs. Cheeseburger. I'm all for it!

Finally I'm happy to see Michael Elgin got the best of Roderick Strong. I hope this us the end but I doubt it.

After this show I admit I'm looking forward to TV the next month after this show. Hopefully ROH doesn't disappoint.

The Milwaukee Wave closed out their 2012-2013 regular season campaign with a weekend double header. On Saturday night, the Syracuse Silverknights made their second and final trip to the U.S. Cellular Arena this season. Both teams were treated to a near capacity crowd of 8,009. Having already been eliminated from playoff contention this season, the Silverknights were looking to play the role of spoilers. The Wave on the other hand, were looking to create some momentum before heading into the playoffs. Syracuse's Ryan Pierce scored the first goal of the game to give the visitors the early 2-0 lead. Recently named player of the month, Ian Bennett tied the game with a perfect back post run to tie the game at 2. Midway through the first quarter, Syracuse goalkeeper Brian O'Quinn would leave the game due to a knee injury. Since the knights did not dress a back up goalie, they were forced to hand the jersey and gloves over to their target forward Derek Popovich who to Milwaukee's surprise, performed exceptionally well for his first professional game in goal. Popovich stated that "he had never played goalie in his life except, in the back yard with his brothers as a young kid." Syracuse would then take the lead before second year sensation, Nick Perera scored two goals back to back to give the Wave a 6-4 lead. Two more goals for the Wave from defender Fabinho, and rookie of the year candidate Lua Oliviera gave Milwaukee a 10-4 lead. Syracuse were able to get one more late goal, but it would not matter as the Wave pull out the 10-6 victory.

The next afternoon, the Wichita Wings entered the Arena, as the last place team in the league. With nothing to lose, the Wings threw everything they had at the Wave. Marcel Feenstra played what could have possibly been one of the best quarters of his career. The "Flying Dutchman" as he is known as to his fans in Milwaukee, lived up to his name Sunday, as he made numerous diving saves to keep the game tied for most of the first quarter. Just as they had the previous night, Nick Perera and Ian Bennett stole the show. Two goals for Bennett, with one being the game winner, scored just twelve seconds after the start of the thrid quarter. Perera finished his second goal in as many games, and Captain Joe Hammes also tallied one goal, to lead the Wave to victory 8-6 to close the regular season.

This week begins the MISL playoffs. The top four teams advance to the play-off round. The first place Baltimore Blast face off against the Chicago Soul, who ended the season as the fourth place team. The only other team to defeat the Blast twice during the regular season, was in fact Chicago, with the other team being Milwaukee. A team that no matter what year it is, always seems to give Baltimore a problem. Last night the Blast took a 22-13 victory in the first game of the series. Game two will be saturday in Baltimore. Baltimore at this point are the favorites to advance to the MISL Championship series. Chicago will have to win game two in Baltimore, plus the mini game that ensues after. The mini-game is an extra period of play that counts as a third game.

The Milwaukee Wave begin their push for their 7th all time, and their 3rd consecutive championship. For the past three seasons, the Wave have faced the Missouri Comets. They will kick off Thursday in Missouri at the Independce Events Center, just outside of Kansas City. Then the teams will return Sunday to continue the series in Milwaukee for game 2 and the 3rd mini game if needed. Many fans expect the Wave and Blast to meet in the finals for the third consecutive year, but in this league anything can happen. Besides for Baltimore, Missouri was the only team to defeat the Wave twice. I can assure you that this week will be some of the best indoor soccer action anyone has seen for quite some time. If Milwaukee advances to the MISL Finals the games will be held Friday March 15th in Milwaukee, and Saturday March 16th in Baltimore. This is what every team plays for each week. A shot at the MISL title.

Episode: The Wolf in Charge of the Hen House

After watching this show, I'm sure when I want to the eat meatballs again. The challenge was to raise as much money as possible selling meatballs. Let's go through the teams first.

Team Power: Bret Michaels, Omarosa, Brande Roderick, Claudia Jordan, Dennis Rodman, LaToya Jackson, Lil Jon

Team Plan B: Trace Adkins, Dee Snider, Gary Busey, Lisa Rinna, Marlin Henner, Penn Jillette, Stephen Baldwin, Trace Adkins

Team Plan B
Project Manager: Trace Adkins

Trace had a very risky strategy by not opening their shop to the general public. It turned out to be very smart because it seemed to lead to the win.

Total: $419,539

Team Power
Project Manager: Brande Roderick

The major mistake Brande made was that she trusted Omarosa with the money count. For some reason she thought this was a good idea. Also it didn't help that Omarosa threw Bret under the bus in the boardroom.

Brought Back to the Boardroom: Brande Roderick, Bret Michaels, La Toya Jackson

Fired: Bret Michaels

Bret shouldn't have come back to begin with. Trump was just looking for a reason to boot him out right away and he got that reason.

Gary Busey Weekly Quote

"You know the word SIN, I wanna take the letters that spell sin and make a definition. S I N stands for self imposed nonsense and we don't do that here."

Episode: Stash-teriods

This week's show actually kept things really simple. It was all product based. The huge one was a vintage 1979 Asteroids video game that was just nice to see. I'd love to play that one day.

Ming was in heaven the majority of the show because one person came in with three awesome Star Wars vehicles and then another guy came in with sweet 3 1/4 inch GI Joe action figures. These items made Ming act like a little kid which was very cool to see.

Finally a guy walked in to sell Walt & Mike some Amazing Spider-Man issues. The ones that were purchased were issue #121, death of Gwen Stacy, #129, Punisher's first appearance and #300, the 9/11 tribute issue.

It was a low key episode but there's nothing wrong with that. Not every episode has to have a massive event.

2/28/13-New Jersey at Winnipeg

Led by Andrew Lada's two goals and assist, the Jets beat the Devils in back to back games 3-1. The Devs couldn't get anything going besides a second period goal by Andrei Laktionov. Ondrej Pavekc makes 22 saves in the win.

3/2/13-New Jersey at Buffalo

In a hard fought contest the Devils at least get out of Buffalo with a point losing to the Sabres 4-3 in a shootout. Buffalo was led by Jason Pomimville's two goals and a shootout goal in the victory. The Devils got goals by Steve Bernier, shorthanded by Adam Henrique and Andrei Lokitonov tied it up to send it to the overtime period.

3/4/13-New Jersey at Toronto

The Devils just can't seem to get back in the win column. After taking a 2-1 lead in the second on a pair of Marek Zidlicky goals, they couldn't hold on.

3/5/13-Tampa Bay at New Jersey

As the Devils losing streak continues, with a 5-2 loss to the Lightning, their goalie woes get worst. While Martin Brodeur is dealing with back problems, Johan Hedberg is now having problems keeping the puck out of the net. So after letting in four goals, Keith Kinkaid made his NHL debut in goal. With all these goalie issues, Nate Thompson got two goals and Martin St. Louis got a goal and an assist. Adam Henrique and Patrik Elias got the only forms of life for the New Jersey offense.

After losing six straight and eight of their last nine, the Devils have a quick turn around and play the Buffalo Sabres at The Rock tomorrow. Over the weekend they head to Carolina to play the Hurricanes on Saturday and then the next night they return home to play the Winnipeg Jets. Finally after two days off, the Devils host the Philadelphia Flyers on NBC Sports Network on Wednesday night.

3/1/13-Grand Rapids at Milwaukee

Led by two goals and an assist from Gustav Nyquist, the Griffins destroyed the Ads 5-1. Patrick Cehin scored for the lone goal for Milwaukee.

3/2/13-Milwaukee at Rockford

The Admirals, and more importantly Jeremy Smith, got back to their winning ways. Led by a goal and an assist by Brad Winchester, Milwaukee beat the Icehogs 3-2. Patrick Cehlin and Daniel Bang also scored for the Ads. Smith made 22 saves for his first win since having career nights at the end of January vs. Oklahoma City & Peoria.

3/3/13-Grand Rapids at Milwaukee

The Admirals just can't seem to beat the Griffins at home. Led by two goals by Jeff Hoggan, Grand Rapids embarrassed Milwaukee 5-1 for the second time in three days. Victor Bartley got the lone goal in garbage time for the Ads.

After a four day break, the Ads will be playing a home & home on Friday and Saturday night with the Chicago Wolves then next Wednesday night they host the Peoria Rivermen.

  • There are rumors that Jay Leno will be officially retiring in May and the new late night host could be Jimmy Fallon. This could be Conan deja vu.

  • The Washington Capitals claimed Aaron Volpotti off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks (2/28/13)
  • The Nashville Predators traded Brian McGrattan to the Calgary Flames for Joe Piskula (2/28/13)
  • The Calgary Flames signed Ryan O'Reilly to a multi year offer sheet (2/28/13)
  • The Vancouver Canucks claimed Tom Sestito off the waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers (3/1/13)
  • The Dallas Stars signed Taylor Peters to a three year entry level contract (3/4/13)
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs traded Mike Brown to the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional 2014 fourth round draft pick (3/4/13)
  • The Washington Capitals signed Steven Oleksy to a one year contract (3/4/13)

Entertainment Report-Issue #4 (Bound for Glory, DWTS, ROH, NHL Lockout News, CM Punk Best in the World and more)

Entertainment Report
Issue #4
10/11-17/12

Welcome to another jammed back edition of the Entertainment Report. This is why I love doing this thing, there's always alot of to cover and talk about in a given week. So without further ado, let's get started...

Wrestling PPV Rundowns

Before I get into the show one quick note, TNA added the X-Division Title match hours after press time last week. As for the show itself, there were alot of title changes, a hot crowd and a few surprises.

Rob Van Dam defeated Zema Ion to win the TNA X Division Championship
Samoa Joe defeated Magnus to retain the TNA Television Championship
James Storm defeated Bobby Roode
Joey Ryan defeated Al Snow to receive a TNA contract thanks a returning Matt Morgan hitting the Carbon Footprint on Snow
Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez defeated Kurt Angle and AJ Styles and Daniels and Kazarian to win the TNA World Tag Team Championships
Tara defeated Miss Tessmacher to win the TNA Knockouts Championship, Jesse from Big Brother was revealed as Tara's "Hollywood Boyfriend"
Aces & Eights defeated Sting and Bully Ray to gain full access to TNA, Devon revealed as a member of Aces & Eights
Jeff Hardy defeated Austin Aries to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Thoughts

Let me get this straight. After a month of hype by Tara playing up her "Hollywood Boyfriend". So she plays it up like it's someone kind important. I wasn't expecting an A or B level celebrity, but there had to be a D level celebrity that TNA would use to help pop the ratings. So Tara wins the Knockouts Championship and she reveals her boyfriend and it's...Jesse from Big Brother. What the fuck?!?! Seriously TNA?!?! Now as a fan I hope to watch that useless piece of shit wannabe model/wrestler every fuckin week?!?! This is thebest you could do? Just aggravating.

Moving on to actual important storyline developments. Devon was revealed as a member of Aces & Eights. That is actually a stranger choice than Garrett Bischoff. Hopefully this makes some kind of sense, or else this has been a complete waste of time.

One question I'm actually curious about is why Matt Morgan helped Joey Ryan beat Al Snow out of no where?

As for the title changes the only two I understand are Jeff Hardy and Tara. Having RVD win the X title doesn't need it, hopefully this will work for the X Division as a whole. Also why did Hernandez and Chavo win the tag belts? They weren't on the radar to actually win.

At least Samoa Joe and James Storm won, which is a good thing.

Caprice Coleman and Cedrick Alexander defeated The Bravado Brothers
Mike Bennett defeated Mike Mondo
World's Greatest Tag Team defeated Rhett Titus and B.J. Whitmer
Jay Lethal defeated Davey Richards
Tadarius Thomas defeated Rhino (Rhino replaced Roderick Strong after he quit he House of Truth)
Adam Cole defeated Eddie Edwards to retain the ROH Television Championship
S.C.U.M. defeated The Brisicoes to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championships
Kevin Steen defeated Micheal Elgin to retain the ROH World Heavyweight Championship

Thoughts

It looks like Jay Lethal and Micheal Elgin came out of this show like made men. I'm still stunned that Lethal defeated Richards the way he did. As for Elgin, it looks like he's going into a rivalry with Roderick Strong who left the House of Truth. That should be a great matchup.

After Steen won his match and Nigel McGuinness handed him a box and it had El Generico's mask in it. I'll be honest I didn't see that coming.

Now ROH can relax a bit since their next big IPPV isn't till Final Battle in New York in December. If this show, and even this weeks TV show, is a sign of things to come, I'm kinda excited about ROH again.

Sports News
On Tuesday, as a fan, I was glued to Twitter trying to get information on the deal that the NHL offered the NHLPA to end the lockout.

Here's the basic details so far to make it easy...

  • November 2nd start date. 82 games with additional games in April to make up the difference.
  • 50/50 split between the players and owners.
  • For the season to start on 11/2, the lockout has to end by 10/25, so training camp can start on 10/26.
That's the update as of now. If news breaks between now and next Thursday, I will post up a special edition of the Report.

The American Hockey League started its' season last week. The Admirals opened up their 35th season on Friday night in Grand Rapids. After going down 2-0, Chris Mueller put the Ads on the board in the last minute of the second period. In the 3rd, a new start was born as rookie Patrick Cehlin scored twice to lead the Ads to a 3-2 win.

Next Week: Friday night is the home opener vs. Charlotte and I will attending with Scotty so I will have pictures int he report next week. After that game the Ads will be going on a four game round trip through Texas to play San Antonio, Houston and Texas.

On Monday night, Mike Modano, Eddie Olczyk and Lou Lameriello were officially inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame. This is a huge honor that put in the background because of the lockout. So congratulations to them.

TV News
In the past I've said that I love when this show breaks from the norm. This week was so out of the norm it was awesome. I men the show included the Charleston, the Mambo, the Jitterbug and even a Bollywood act. It was very free-form and even guest judge Paula Abdul seemed to fit in well.

Best Performances: Gilles/Peta, Shawn/Derek, Kelly/Val
Worst Performances: Kristie/Maks, Bristol/Mark

Bottom 2: Kristie/Maks, Bristol/Mark
Eliminated: Bristol/Mark

Thank you America! Finally got this one right! Bristol should have been gone on week two.

Next week should be fun, guilty pleasures dance and the group numbers, they are going Gangham Style! Sorry I'm looking forward to that.

Episode: Stash Bashes

Before I get into the show, I really liked the show being a half hour instead of a hour. It was just enough show without getting boring.

As for the show, in what world is having a four year old's birthday party in a comic book shop a good idea? Only Ming would think that one up. This was a hilarious clusterfuck, with Walt's facial expressions making it for me. Bryan as "Four Color the Comic Book Clown" actually had me roaring in laughter, especially "attempting to make balloon animals".

As for the items that were sold and bought, there weren't nearly as obscure as last season but that's not a bad thing. I really loved the massive Darth Vader helmet.

Good start for the new season.

The all star format seems to be working for DWTS, so of course Donald Trump would want in on the fun. This week the cast for the show was announced:
  • Trace Adkins
  • Stephen Baldwin
  • Gary Busey
  • Penn Jiliette
  • Lil Jon
  • Dennis Rodman
  • Dee Snider
  • Marilu Henner
  • LaToya Jackson
  • Claudia Jordan
  • Omarosa
  • Lisa Rinna
  • Brande Roderick
  • Bret Michaels
Now that's an awesome cast. Also announced is that Mr. Trump will have additional advisers in the boardroom, along side Ivonka, Don Jr. and Eric...
  • Joan Rivers
  • Piers Morgan
  • Arsenio Hall
  • John Rich
This is not even a joke. This could be the most entertaining season of this show ever.

In honor of Gary Busey returning, I dipped into the archives of this blog and decided to reprint the top ten Gary Busey from the 2010 season. Hopefully we get some fun ones this time around.

Sting inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame

As much as I still don't get why TNA has a Hall of Fame, it's cool to see Sting get honored. It has made me wonder if this is going to be yearly and if it's only going to be one person at a time. Just seems weird to have the whole big ceremony for just one person.

Gail Kim named the #1 woman wrestler of the year in the PWI Female 50

While the list isn't as big of a deal as the PWI 500, this is a big deal for her. This is the surprisingly the first time she got the honor. Congrats to her.

DVD Review
It has been a long time since I was really excited about getting a DVD. I'm not one of the people who rush out to get a DVD the week it comes out, this DVD is the exception. It took three stores to find it but when I got home to watch this set I was looking foward to it. It was not disappointed.

First thing I noticed was when it started it felt like a ESPN 30 for 30 documentary. Honesty was the keywod in this presentation. Punk was very open about his family issues and starting a backyard wrestling organization, Lunatic Wrestling Federation, with his brother and friends.

This led to being trained by Ace Steel and moving onto the Independent Wrestling Association. It was really cool to see the old footage that Punk gave them. It also showed us how he discovered his straight edge character inspired by his then girlfriend. It's also awesome to hear from Colt Cabana and Chris Hero through this.

Moving onto ROH, yeah WWE actually should Ring of Honor footage, including step-by-step through the now famous Summer of Punk storyline starting with pinning Austin Aries to the epic emotional final match against Colt.

This leads us to the WWE portion of the DVD. I'm not going to do the blow by blow commentary. But I will say I liked how they actually showed both points of view on every topic. They had Michael Hayes & Triple H talking on behalf of WWE management and Punk and Paul Heyman taking Punk's side. t was actually very informative while not entirely destroying the business.

Extras
On the first disc there is an extra hour of clips that were cut from the documentary. Included is talking about December to Dismember, what his name means and really interesting stories.

The other two discs are 11 full matches, including pre-match videos and the "commercial free" version of TV matches. Included are the amazing Cena/Punk MITB match, Punk/John Morrison on ECW and the rivalries with Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio.

Final Thoughts
This is one of my favorite WWE produced documentary DVDs ever. It was well put together and told a great story even a non-wrestling fan would enjoy.

Quick Hits

  • I guess it was a good idea that I decided not to get into Made in Jersey. CBS made it the first show to be cancelled of the fall season after two episodes
  • Why does it shock anyone that a re-run of a web show, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, is getting bad ratings on the CW? Even the most uber NPH either didn't feel like watching it again or just didn't know it was on. I mean it's on the CW after all.
  • I have to admit I found the Justin Bieber "secret footage" publicity stunt hysterical. I can't believe how many people fell for it.
  • Thank you NFL for announcing that Beyonce will be performing the Super Bowl halftime show. It gives me a built in bathroom break like I had for the Black Eyed Peas and Prince.
  • Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are going to host the Golden Globes this year and I might actually consider watching the show this year for the first time.
Podcast Plug
With Comic Book Men returning this week that meant the return of the companion podcast, The Secret Stash. For SMod fans it's actually combines SModcast, Tell 'Em Steve Dave and I Sell Comics. The hosts are Kevin Smith, Walt Flanigan, Bryan Johnson, Ming Chen and Mike Zapcic. This week's return episode was recorded at the Gramercy Theater in New York, and included talk about childhood toys and television shows. It's a really funny and worthwhile listen this week.

That's it for Issue #4. If you have any thoughts or comments on anything covered here or in the past issues, drop me an email at entertainreport@gmail.com and follow me on Twitter @Reilly21106.

Next week I will be covering WWE's Hell in a Cell PPV, DWTS going Gangham style and hopefully happy news from the NHL.

Till then, thank you for reading.
