New NHL All-Star Format

The other day at the general managers meetings the NHL announced a brand new format for their traditional all-star game in January. While I'm still trying to put all the pieces together, let's see if I understand this.

The fans vote in 6 players to the teams, not starters, just players. Then hockey operations will select the other 36. Then two captains will be selected and those captains will draft their teams on the Friday before the all star game.

Right now I think it's taking a little bit to digest. It's different. It's something that's never been done before. Maybe this will bring some attention to the league. I'm not sure to be honest. It's going to take a little time for me to really see how this will work. As we close I guess we will find out. I don't know yet, my thoughts are kinda scrambled on the subject matter right now.

All I know is that this year, no more East vs. West. Just two pick up teams playing each other for bragging rights. Sounds interseting I guess, we'll see what happens.

Glee (11/9/10)-Back on Track

Well last night's Glee was a nice breath of fresh air. Powerful story-lines that will now setup the rest of the first half of the season (the announcement of Sectionals, Kurt in general and Puck/Artie). After last night, I can also say that I love the Coach Beiste character more and more every week, and hope they keep her on TV regularly in some role. There was only four songs numbers, which I greatly appreciated because the songs actually fit the story, instead of just a theme. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Let's get into the songs.

Dalton Academy Glee Club-Teenage Dream
Um, wow. That's all I can say. This song made me break my rule of only downloading New Directions performances. This was incredible. Between the song itself and Kurt's boyish shyness and flirtiness, it was a joy and by far one of the best performances of the season. A+

Puck and Artie-One Love/People Get Ready
If this storyline with these two is going to lead to more songs like this, I'm all for it. This performance is kind of a reminder this is a musical. The song was out of left field but it was sung so well that it didn't matter. A

New Directions Girls-Start Me Up/Livin' On A Prayer
This was actually really good. I was worried going in, but the girls looked hot in the rocker gear and the mash-up was surprisingly impressive. A

New Directions Boys-Stop! In the Name of Love/Free Your Mind
This performance, especially because of the Beiste storyline, was actually better than what I expected. The mash-up was well done, and the songs were really good. I personally loved the free-form choreography and thought even though the girls were hotter, the guys won the battle of the sexes two years in a row, even though it was never announced. A+

Dancing with the Stars:Instant Dance Brings Out The Best

You know, I've been watching this show all season waiting for a night that really stands out as a big night. We've had  theme nights and whatnot, but tonight was the first time all season that we had the memorable dances that stick around for years. There were two rounds, the first round was just a normal dance. The record was the Instant Dance round, which turned out to be the best round of the season, despite the gimmick. This week is a full review, the way it will be for the rest of the season.

First Round

Kyle and Lacey (27) ****
Dance:Viennese Waltz
I really liked this performance. It was clean and almost perfect. By far their best dance of the season so far.

Jennifer and Derek (27) ****
Dance:Quick Step
You can never tell Jennifer is in alot of pain while dancing. They are back on fire.

Kurt and Anna (24) ***1/2
Dance:Waltz
Continuing the theme of fantastic dances tonight, Kurt has really come to has own. Very smooth and just gets better and better.
"You're the Ken doll for adults like me."-Carrie Ann

Bristol and Mark (24) ***1/2
Dance:Argentine Tango
Talk about a massive turnaround. This is what happens when Bristol gets confidence. The footwork was amazing and overall by far her best dance of the season.

Brandy and Maksim (29) *****
Dance:Waltz

No doubt they were going to be smooth but wow, amazing. Both dance and the story told made you sit and stare. It was real emontion. Best dance of this round.

Second Round:"Instant Dance"

Kyle and Lacey (29) *****
Song:Good Golly, Miss Molly
These two are so entertaining. Simply amazing.

Jennifer and Derek (30) *****
Song:Waiting For A Good Time
Can these two do anything wrong? A little slow for me but still really fantastic.

Kurt and Anna (24) ****
Song:Hella Good
This was so much better than I expected. I thought this was his best of the season. Really awesome.

Bristol and Mark (23) ****
Song:Mas Que Nada
Wow, an actual real personality from Bristol. She is officially here to win or at least try. Really entertaining and fun.

Brandy and Maksim (28) ****1/2
Song:Teenage Dream
They took a page out of Kyle and Lacey's book and played the crowd really well. I really enjoyed that performance. Also I had no problem that they didn't start right at the beginning of the song, especially because of the song they had to dance to.

Leaderboard
Jennifer/Derek 57
Brandy/Maksim 57
Kyle/Lacey 56
Kurt/Anna 48 *won't  be shocked if he goes home*
Bristol/Mark 47 *should go home*
